This happened immediately behind my father's house, on the main road, here in Defence, Lahore. He instantly called Rescue 1122, who refused to respond, stating that they needed confirmation that somebody actually was injured! My father insisted that there was a very bad collision, the noise from which, woke them up from deep sleep; he could see smoke gushing out from the vehicles and the electricity pillar damaged. But Rescue 1122 refused. He then called the DHA Police.
Boys and girls from big families are above the law, it seems. Out with a license to kill. But our youth is now waking up to its civic rights and duties. Will the one who fled, be caught? Will the 2 boys in jail, be released with the force of contacts behind them? Will Rescue 1122 be admonished? Will drinking ever end, in this 'land of the pure'? Let's wait and see.

we need education here about drink driving ... regardless of the fact that it is allowed or banned
u hav to consider the fact that you are allowed to legally drink if you have 'permits'...
so if your law allows u to drink.. u def need education on how it goes !

Here, Sami, drinking for Muslims is illegal, much less, drunken-driving. So it remains a matter of not one crime only. SAD.

drinking is still allowed in pakistan with permits... and that is the legal kind... not the 'hi-fi's of the nation drinking !
The odds are pretty much in favour of one faith, especially given that there were three of these hooligans. Lest this debate turn into a debate of faith being personal, drinking is against the law: for Muslims (as per the Qur'an) and for Pakistani Muslims (as per the law of the land).
Oh, and they named the boys. Certainly seem to muslim names.

In all the wrongdoers here, there is one whose response really shocks: the emergency services! How can they be questioning the validity of the incident when the life/lives of people could be hanging in balance and their immediate resonse could make all the difference!
As for drinking...each one gets to pick his poison...
Quite shocking, yes. Students from LUMS are protesting that they arrived on the scene, too late. And then, didn't perform as they should've. So much for Rescue 1122 taking pride in its own services. We've seen it all.
Shocking to see that those who could have helped didn't do it or didn't do enough.
Unfortunately, the situation seems to be the same everywhere, but efforts must continue to be made to see that the law is applied equally to all.
It won't end up unless the law enforcing agencies take serious actions against this...
all I know is that.. driving license branch people in Karachi are much corrupted guyz...
so true that... A hope is the only hope we are living for...
